Two foreign tourists climbed onto a moving Bolt car and damaged it while the driver was driving in Pattaya on February 14. The driver got compensation, but not before dealing with some runaround from police.

Phuritha Aramwong, the Bolt driver, took his case online after what sounds like a frustrating experience with local authorities. According to his social media post, police initially released the foreign suspects and told him to gather evidence himself.

Phuritha was driving on a Pattaya road when the two foreigners jumped onto his moving vehicle. The incident damaged his car, leaving him with repair costs and a disrupted workday.

What happened with police

This is where it gets annoying for Phuritha. After the incident, he says police released the suspects and basically told him "figure it out yourself" when it came to getting evidence. Not exactly the response you'd want after someone damages your car while you're trying to make a living.

The driver decided to take his story public, posting about the incident on social media. That move apparently worked — he eventually got compensation from the two foreign men.

The bigger picture

Look, this kind of incident doesn't happen every day, but it highlights something travelers should keep in mind: actions have consequences, even when you're on vacation. Climbing onto someone's moving car isn't just dangerous — it's property damage that the driver has to deal with.

For the driver's side, this shows why dash cams are becoming more common among Thai taxi and rideshare drivers. Having video evidence makes these situations way clearer for everyone involved.

What this means for travelers

If you're using Bolt, Grab, or regular taxis in Thailand, just treat the vehicles with basic respect. These drivers are trying to make a living, and damage to their cars means lost income while they get repairs done.

Pattaya sees its share of tourist incidents, but most visits go smoothly when people use common sense. Don't climb on moving vehicles. Don't damage other people's property. Pretty basic stuff.

The good news is Phuritha eventually got his compensation. The less good news is he had to fight for it and take his case public to make it happen.

That said, this appears to be resolved now, with the driver getting paid for the damage caused.
