A 31-year-old beauty salon owner in Nong Prue, Bang Lamung filed a police complaint on February 17, alleging her ex-boyfriend broke into her property and assaulted her as part of ongoing harassment since their breakup.

The woman, identified only as A, decided to report the incidents to police after what she claims has been continued threatening behavior from her former partner. Chon Buri police are now investigating the allegations.

The complaint was filed in Bang Lamung district, which covers much of the greater Pattaya area including Nong Prue subdistrict where the salon is located.

What this means for visitors

Pattaya remains one of Thailand's most popular tourist destinations, but incidents like this highlight the reality that domestic disputes and crime happen in tourist areas just like anywhere else.

For travelers staying in the Nong Prue area — which has become increasingly popular due to its proximity to Pattaya but lower costs — it's worth noting that this appears to be a targeted domestic incident rather than random crime affecting tourists.

That said, if you're running a business in Thailand or dealing with any harassment issues, the case shows that local police do take complaints seriously and investigate them. The Bang Lamung police station handles reports for much of the greater Pattaya area.

The investigation continues

Police haven't released details about the specific allegations or timeline of events, but the complaint filing suggests this has been an ongoing situation rather than a single incident.

The case is still under investigation, so more details may emerge as police complete their inquiry.

For anyone in similar situations in Thailand, local police stations do accept complaints about harassment and domestic disputes, though having a Thai speaker help with the process is usually necessary.
